Passenger ships serve several areas in Indonesia, one of which is KMP (Kapal Motor Penumpang) Dharma Rucitra 3. In 2020 this ship had an accident and almost sank, then causing the main engine to submerge. With problem, it necessary repower with provided by company, replacing old a new engine. The namely Yanmar 6N21A SV power 1200 HP at 850 RPM. Initially ship's speed was 12 knots data Makita GNLH 630M 1300 375 RPM B4-50 propeller. To achieve desired speed, have optimal propeller improve performance. research, algorithm has been specially developed find optimum design B-series propellers for 3 defining overall parameters like diameter, pitch-ratio, blade area ratio number blades. performed as multi-objective function constraints imposed parameters. computer program select considering boundary condition system, hull-propeller interactions, engine-propeller matching (EPM). This research also carried out open water self-propulsion simulations using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Then can be concluded that development optimize selection on obtained B4-49.6 type diameter 1,995 m so reach 14,2 85% maximum continuous rating power.
